Hello, folks!! How are you?

Sothis is my 1st post for real talking about making a piece of an Edwardian undergarment, a bum pad. I have a project, a big project for myself which is doing a whole Edwardian garment to wear on my birthday this year.  It’s gonna  be my 1st historical project and I’m so excited! I already bought some of the things – lace, trimsfabricsI’m truly excited to wearCan’t wait to show you the process here on my blog and also on  my Instagram (fernandacarmo123, follow me to see more things about me and this project).

Today I’m making a bum pad which It can be done with linencambricbaptistecottonyou choose what to use. I chose cotton that I had here in my house because of my college – I'm a fashion designer student btw if you don’t know.

didn’t have a pattern for this but there’s a lot on the internet and there’s this one from 1929 which is really good and free that you can see and make it by yourself.

P.s:: Bernadette Banner also did one of this on her channelit’s amazing btw.

Thread

Needle

Thimble (if you’re doing handsewing)

Sewing machine

Pencil

ruler

pattern

Twill tape or bias tape

Filling (can be leftover fabric or polyester)

  • 1- First you take your pattern and put it on top of the fabric and you will draw the shape.

  • 2- Then cut where you marked.

  • 3- After you close one part and leave the other part open so you can put the filling.

  • 4- Also draw the lines of the direction that you’ll sew later.

  • 5- About the fillingyou can put the polyester one or leftover fabrics.

Edwardian Bust Improver

Heeeey, hope you're having a lovely day! Saturday means new post here! Today I'm going to show you how I made my bust improver which is part of the underwear, contributing to the silhouette of the time. It increases the bust, making the person have a higher bust, looking like a pigeon breast.  This picture shows the differece when you're with the bum pad above the skirt and the bust improver, makes the right silhouette. Woman’s Bust Improver (Falsies) , England, circa 1900, image from LACMA I printed the pattern made by Cat's costumery on her blog and she also made the bust improver on her youtube channel, here's her video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leW0dItyCzI . So, let's get started: You'll need: Fabric of your choice, I used cotton. Thimble ( if you're doing hansewing) Thread Needle Trims (lace) Filling ( polyester or leftover fabric) bias tape 1-  I put the pattern on the folded fabric. 2- So I cutted. 3- I drew circles where I should put the f...

Edwardian Chemise

Hello !!  Happy   Saturday , I  hope   you  are  having   an   amazing   day   so   far .   Following   the   project ,  today  I  will  show  how  I  made   my   Edwardian  chemise.  But   what   is  a chemise? It  is  a  very  light  dress   that   women   wore   under   their   clothes , it  was   made   of   cotton   or   linen   and   protected   the   outer   garments   from   sweat . People  have   been   wearing   the  chemise  since   medieval times .    As time  went   by ,  women  still  wore  chemises  under   the   garments   with  lace,  silk , etc.  until   the  20th  century   and   ...

Edwardian Blouse

Hello!!! Happy saturday and happy late Thanksgiving, I'm so thankful for this year because I discovered my passion for sewing, historical fashion etc. I bought the pattern from blacksnailpatterns and it was really easy! I used cambric and lace. I decided to make the version 2 of the pattern. •I cut the pattern and closed the shoulder seams •the took the lace fabric and stitched on cambric. •put the collar •closed the side seams •put the sleeves •then put the cuff And it's done! Would you like to see me in a video showing you the process? Tell me here! Happy weekend! See you next saturday!
