Edwardian Gown

Hello, friends! Hope you're having a great saturday! Today is the last post related to my birthday project, which was inspired by the Edwardian era, so today it is about the dress that is actually a skirt, blouse and belt. I bought the mold from blacksnailpatterns, which has very good patterns, I highly recommend it! At first I was going to buy pure silk crepe de chine but it was very expensive, so I decided to buy another type of crepe, ana crepe, I bought 7.5m. I decided not to put any ornaments on the clgarments, because the fabric is the most beautiful thing alone.  It's made of polyester but does not heat anything, remembering that if you can't buy expensive fabrics for your clothes, it is good that you wear cotton / linen underwear so that your body can breathe better and you feel more comfortable. The pattern is very easy, in the part of the blouse you basically need to close the sides and make the finishes and the skirt may be a little complicated, there are severa...

Edwardian Blouse

Hello!!! Happy saturday and happy late Thanksgiving, I'm so thankful for this year because I discovered my passion for sewing, historical fashion etc. I bought the pattern from blacksnailpatterns and it was really easy! I used cambric and lace. I decided to make the version 2 of the pattern. •I cut the pattern and closed the shoulder seams •the took the lace fabric and stitched on cambric. •put the collar •closed the side seams •put the sleeves •then put the cuff And it's done! Would you like to see me in a video showing you the process? Tell me here! Happy weekend! See you next saturday!

Petticoat

Hey!!!!! Today I'm gonna show you how I made my Petticoat.  I saw the post of Modista do desterro, she's Brazilian , it's in Portuguese but it was very easy. She uses sheets to make but I used the cambric that I already had.  I decided not to add lace this time and I didn't close the back, I left it open to facilitate.  To day's post is more like talking, if you want to know more how to do it, I invite you to go on her blog.  Last week was my birthday, I put on my Edwardian costume and I felt like the most beautiful woman in the world. I'll still do more posts about the clothes until I get to the dress, but it was really cool, wasn't it?  So that's it, have a great day, thanks for reading!  WHERE YOU CAN FIND ME  Instagram: fernandacarmo123  Tiktok: fernanda__carmo

Edwardian Hat

Happy Saturday! Hope you're having a great day so far! Today we're making an Edwardian inspired hat.  You will need: 1- straw hat 2- satin ribbon 3-thread and needle 4-hot glue 5- flowers 6- scissors First you will decide how tall your hat will be and remove the line from the strip; Then you will take what's left of the top of the hat and sew it where you let it go; After sewing, you take the satin ribbon and glue it with hot glue around the hat; And finally take the flowers and glue the hat too. Suuuuuuper easy, isn't it? * I couldn't put photos here, so go there on my instagram to see the final result, I'll wait for you there. INSTAGRAM: FERNANDACARMO123

Edwardian Corset Cover

Hello guys, hope you're good! Today's post is related to the corset cover I made for myself. I used a guide pattern that I found on the internet from a shirtwaist and that helped me make the corset cover.   This image is already showing how the mold should look, I needed some measurements. Since this pattern shows half the front and half the back, you need the following measurements: 1) measure from the middle of the waist to the side. 2) measure the length of the shoulder to the tip of the shoulder. 3) measure a part of the armhole, as shown in the photo. 4) measure from the shoulder to the neck to the height you want from the neckline. Having these measurements you will be drawing on paper and trying to match the pattern, you will basically just add your measurements. You will need a ruler and the French curve to make the armhole and neckline. * It may be that it gets big or small, just make the changes while seeing your body. The fabric I used was cambric but you can use lin...

Edwardian Corset

Hiii guys, how are you? Today I'm making an Edwardian Corset using Black Snail Patterns "Edwardian Straight Front Corset". I really liked it, if you are a beginner like me, you will probably like it too, as the instructions are very easy to follow. 1) I took my measurements and found them in the mold. 2) it is necessary to make a mock up before making the final corset. 3) the mock up was too big, so I reduced the mold and then I could cut the mold on the final fabric. 4) I used twill, because I didn't find where I live here in Brazil the coutil fabric that would be ideal. 5)Put everything together and sewed. 6) The busk I had to ask for in São Paulo because where I live it doesn't sell. 7) If you want a video teaching how to put the busk, I can do it. 8) I put the grosgrain ribbon at the waist line. 9) I put satin ribbon in the channels of the plastic whalebones. 10) After putting the plastic bones in place 11) I fitted the eyelets. 12) And finally the cord. The ...

Haute Couture Project

Hello everybody, hope you're having a lovely day so far. Before I start, I would like to ask you if you are enjoying the posts? Is there anything you would like to know more about? As you know I'm a fashio design student and in sewing class the teacher asked us to make a garment inspired by a haute couture brand using techniques that they use and needed to be done by hand.  Techniques would be: tressê, pleats, ruffles, embroidery etc.  I chose Dior and thought about making a dress with a cape. I chose a plaid cotton fabric that looks like tweed, I think it matched the brand and what I wanted.  I made a long skirt with pleats, a blouse and all this can become a dress, in addition to I made a cape using the same fabric, creating this look. I loved it, I intend to recreate soon! What did you think of this look? Would you wear it too? Tell me! This post was very short but I promise that the next one will be much bigger. Is there anything related to vintage or histo...
