Edwardian Bust Improver

Heeeey, hope you're having a lovely day!

Saturday means new post here! Today I'm going to show you how I made my bust improver which is part of the underwear, contributing to the silhouette of the time. It increases the bust, making the person have a higher bust, looking like a pigeon breast.

This picture shows the differece when you're with the bum pad above the skirt and the bust improver, makes the right silhouette.

Woman’s Bust Improver (Falsies), England, circa 1900, image from LACMA

I printed the pattern made by Cat's costumery on her blog and she also made the bust improver on her youtube channel, here's her video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leW0dItyCzI .

So, let's get started:

You'll need:

Fabric of your choice, I used cotton.
Thimble ( if you're doing hansewing)
Thread
Needle
Trims (lace)
Filling ( polyester or leftover fabric)
bias tape

1-  I put the pattern on the folded fabric.

2- So I cutted.

3- I drew circles where I should put the filling.

4- I sewed one part and left the other open to put the filling.

5- I sewed around the circles, to give the correct volume with the filling inside.

6- Then I sew where it was open.

7- I put the bias.

8- you can add lace if you want, I added to mine!

And, it's done!

This was the second easiest thing I did, I liked it, I still have to try it on with the full outfit, but I'm really happy with the result.

What did you think? tell me in the comments!!

Thank you for reading!

Have a wonderful day, see you next Saturday!

Edwardian Blouse

Hello!!! Happy saturday and happy late Thanksgiving, I'm so thankful for this year because I discovered my passion for sewing, historical fashion etc. I bought the pattern from blacksnailpatterns and it was really easy! I used cambric and lace. I decided to make the version 2 of the pattern. •I cut the pattern and closed the shoulder seams •the took the lace fabric and stitched on cambric. •put the collar •closed the side seams •put the sleeves •then put the cuff And it's done! Would you like to see me in a video showing you the process? Tell me here! Happy weekend! See you next saturday!
